In conversations with neighbors over the past week, at least two times people brought up instances outrageously poor library experiences. DVD’s and cassettes that stop playing after investing an hour watching or listening, lack of a current updates for reference services and the list went on.
Both of these people spoke highly of the desk librarians they interact with. They are well aware of what the impacts are from a City Council that lacks the obvious commitment to a world class library. Our librarians are wonderful people working there under conditions that can’t help but be less than citizen friendly. Even Dan Bernstein had something to say about it. Maybe it’s time we started saying something about it.
