Riverside’s planning commission will discuss a list of possible ways to curb problems with inconsiderate renters in neighborhoods around UC Riverside at a meeting Thursday, July 18.
Homeowners have complained about noisy parties, drunk driving and other issues they attribute largely to college students. City officials have vowed to step up enforcement of existing rules and consider new strategies to address their concerns.
One proposal is to reduce the number of tenants allowed by right in single-family homes from four to two; renting to three or four people would require a permit from the city that could be revoked for complaints or code violations.
The commission meets at 9 a.m. Thursday at Riverside City Hall, 3900 Main St. The University neighborhood issue is on the agenda for 9:30 a.m.
